Double album Senjutsu shows keeping the tape razor sharp, creating edges

BMG is proud to announce the release of Iron Maiden’s 17th studio album Senjutsu, her first in six years, on September 3rd. It was recorded in Paris with longtime producer Kevin Shirley and co-produced by Steve Harris.

This was preceded on Thursday, July 15, by an already highly acclaimed animation video for the first single “The Writing On The Wall” by BlinkInk based on a concept by Bruce Dickinson with two former Pixar executives. This was followed by a month-long teaser campaign and a global “treasure hunt” for clues about the title and concept of the track.

To the Senjutsu – Loosely translated as “Tactics & Strategy”, the band once again called on Mark Wilkinson to create the spectacular cover artwork on the theme of samurai based on an idea by Steve Harris. With a running time of a little under 82 minutes, Senjutsulike her previous record The book of souls, will be a double CD / triple vinyl album.

“We decided to record again at the Guillaume Tell studio in France because the place has such a relaxed atmosphere,” says Harris. “The setup there is perfect for our needs; The building used to be a cinema and has a really high ceiling so there is great acoustic sound. We recorded this album in the same way as The Book Of Souls, by writing a song, rehearsing it, and then putting it together immediately while everything was fresh in our heads. There are some very complex songs on this album that took a lot of hard work to get exactly how we wanted it to be worth it! I’m very proud of the result and can’t wait for the fans to hear it. “

“We’re all really excited about this album. We recorded it in early 2019 during a hiatus from the Legacy Tour so we could maximize our tour and still have a long lead time to prepare great album art and something special as a video, ”adds singer Bruce Dickinson. “Of course the pandemic delayed things more – so much for the best of plans – or should those be ‘strategies’ !? The songs are very varied and sometimes quite long. There are also a song or two that sound very different from our usual style, and I think Maiden fans will be surprised – in a good way, I hope! “

Senjutsu appears on Standard 2 CD Digipak, Deluxe 2 CD Book Format, Deluxe Heavyweight 180 Gram Triple Black Vinyl, Special Edition Triple Silver &. black marble vinyl, special edition triple red & black marble vinyl, super deluxe box set with CD, Blu-ray and exclusive memorabilia and digital.
